Talk With Your Notes
NoteTalker brings AI chat directly into your note-taking workflow, grounded in your own knowledge. The model runs on your own machine—every question, answer, and voice reply is generated on-device, with no cloud round-trip and nothing sent to a server. Ask questions and get answers based on what you've written, not generic web content. The AI can create notes, schedule reminders, manage tasks, and navigate your files—all through natural conversation. Use your keyboard for text chat or go hands-free with voice input and output. NoteTalker remembers context across sessions, building a deeper understanding of your work over time.
- AI chat grounded in your notes via RAG — Hybrid vector + keyword search retrieves relevant context automatically
- Voice input (push-to-talk, wake word, conversation mode) — Talk to NoteTalker naturally with hands-free voice loops
- Voice output (text-to-speech responses) — Hear NoteTalker read answers aloud while you work
- 42 built-in agent tools for file operations, scheduling, memory — Create notes, set reminders, search files, update CRM—all through conversation (the 14 most-used stay in context; the rest load on demand)
Track Relationships & Time
NoteTalker includes a personal CRM to track everyone in your network—colleagues, clients, friends, and organizations. Record notes about people, track interactions, and visualize relationships in an interactive graph. Connect your Google Calendar to sync events into daily notes, giving NoteTalker awareness of your schedule. The dashboard shows upcoming meetings, overdue tasks, and reminders at a glance. Never forget a commitment or lose context on an important relationship.
- Built-in CRM for people and organizations — Track contacts, roles, companies, and interaction history
- Relationship graph visualization — See connections between people, organizations, and topics at a glance
- Google Calendar integration — Sync events into daily notes with OAuth2 authentication
- Daily notes linked to calendar events — See today's meetings and tasks in one unified view
Discover Hidden Connections
NoteTalker automatically surfaces related notes you didn't know were connected. The knowledge network graph visualizes how your ideas link together, revealing patterns and relationships across your entire vault. Hybrid search combines vector embeddings (semantic similarity) with BM25 keyword matching, using reciprocal rank fusion to deliver the most relevant results. NoteTalker suggests backlinks to related notes as you write, helping you build a densely connected second brain without manual tagging.
- Knowledge network graph — Interactive visualization of note connections and relationships
- Semantic similarity surfacing — Find conceptually related notes even without shared keywords
- Linked note suggestions — NoteTalker recommends backlinks to related notes as you write
- Hybrid vector + BM25 search with reciprocal rank fusion — Best-in-class local search combining semantic and keyword signals

Frequently Asked Questions
What is NoteTalker?
NoteTalker is a local-first AI assistant and personal knowledge management system. It combines a desktop app for managing your notes, files, and CRM data with on-device AI for chat, voice input and output, and semantic search — all running on your own machine. Your vault (notes and files) stays on your machine as plain Markdown files, giving you complete data ownership and privacy.
How does local-first AI work?
NoteTalker runs entirely on your machine. The language model behind chat, the speech models for voice input and output, and the embeddings that power search all run locally on your own GPU—there is no cloud round-trip and nothing is sent to a server. NoteTalker only reaches the internet for a one-time model download, a one-time license activation, and any optional extras you turn on yourself (weather, web search, Google sync). Your vault never leaves your device.
What operating systems does NoteTalker support?
NoteTalker is available for Windows 10+, macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, and Linux distributions including Ubuntu 22.04+ and Fedora 38+. To run the local AI model you'll need an NVIDIA GPU (CUDA) on Windows or Linux, or an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS—see the hardware question below for details. GPU acceleration for search embeddings, voice, and wake-word detection uses CUDA on Linux, DirectML on Windows, and CoreML on macOS.
How is NoteTalker different from Notion or Obsidian?
NoteTalker combines the best of both worlds: local-first data ownership like Obsidian with built-in AI chat like Notion. Unlike Notion, your data stays on your device in plain Markdown files. Unlike Obsidian, NoteTalker includes native voice input/output, a built-in CRM for tracking people and organizations, Google Calendar integration, and AI chat that works out of the box without plugins. NoteTalker is designed as a complete cognitive operating system, not just a note-taking app.
Is my data private with NoteTalker?
Yes. NoteTalker is local-first by design. Your vault, notes, CRM data, memory files, and conversation sessions are stored as plain files on your machine, never uploaded to any server. Chat, voice, and search all run on-device, so your questions and your content are never sent to us or to any third-party AI provider. We don't train on your data, and telemetry is opt-in and off by default.
How much does NoteTalker cost?
NoteTalker is a one-time purchase of $37 — no subscription and no usage limits. Your license covers all 2.x releases and can be activated on up to two devices. AI chat, voice, and search all run on your own machine, so there are no per-message or per-minute fees. A free account is created only to deliver and manage your license key.
Can I export my data from NoteTalker?
Your data is already exported—it's stored as plain Markdown files in a folder you choose on your machine. You can open your notes in any text editor, back them up with version control like Git, or sync them across devices using Dropbox, iCloud, or any file sync service. There's no proprietary database or export process. Your vault is just a folder of files you fully control.
Does NoteTalker work without an internet connection?
Yes—including AI. NoteTalker runs entirely offline: you can chat with the on-device model, use voice input and output, run semantic and keyword search, and manage notes, CRM, the knowledge graph, daily notes, and tasks with no internet at all. NoteTalker only needs a connection for a one-time model download, a one-time license activation, and any optional extras you enable yourself (weather, web search, Google sync).
What hardware do I need?
To run the local AI model you'll need a recent GPU: an NVIDIA GPU (CUDA) on Windows or Linux, or an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS. The default Mistral Nemo 12B model wants roughly 10–12 GB of VRAM; on an 8 GB GPU choose the smaller Qwen3 4B model instead. On a Mac, 16 GB of unified memory runs the 4B model and 24 GB or more runs the 12B. Editing notes, browsing the graph, and searching your vault run fine on modest hardware.
How big is the download?
The installer itself is small. On first launch NoteTalker downloads the AI models it needs: about 3 GB for the essential set (a compact language model plus the Whisper speech-to-text and Kokoro text-to-speech models), or about 8 GB if you pick the default Mistral Nemo 12B model. Models download once, are stored on your machine, and the download is resumable if it's interrupted.
How many devices can I use my license on?
Your license activates on up to two devices. To move NoteTalker to a new computer, deactivate it on one device to free a slot—then activate on the new one. Activation is a one-time online step; after that NoteTalker runs offline.
Do I get updates?
Yes. Your license covers every 2.x release at no extra cost. NoteTalker does not auto-update—new versions are manual downloads from our releases page, so you decide when to upgrade.
Can I get a refund?
If NoteTalker isn't the right fit for your machine or your workflow, get in touch with support and we'll help you sort it out. You can reach us through the support and contact options on our site.
